The Montclair Mounties are taking a road trip to take on the Memorial Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Memorial took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Montclair, who comes in off a win.
While Montclair's win against Glen Ridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mounties had just enough and edged out the Ridgers 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mounties have posted since April 15th.
Jackson Price spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Silas Hart was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Patrick Van Note, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Memorial fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Indian Hills on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 7-2 to the Braves.
Memorial also got a good showing from Yaniel Cuevas, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cuevas has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Memorial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ramon Molina, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Alexis Martinez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
The win made it two in a row for Montclair and bumps their season record up to 8-12. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15-1 record this season.
Montclair beat Memorial 6-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Mounties repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
