Soccer Game Preview: Villa Park vs. Troy

The Villa Park Spartans will face off against the Troy Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Villa Park will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Villa Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They walked away with a 4-2 win over Esperanza on Wednesday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Aztecs are ranked 528th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Troy was not quite Brea Olinda's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1.

Troy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4-4. As for Villa Park, they pushed their record up to 12-2-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Villa Park came out on top in a nail-biter against Troy when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 1-0. Does Villa Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will Troy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
