Basketball Recap: Kinsley Comes Up Short

Kinsley was the 43-40 winner over Ellinwood when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Kinsley Coyotes were beaten by the Ellinwood Eagles 59-24 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Eagles are ranked 83rd).

Ellinwood found their leader in freshman Brynn Widener, who posted 14 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Alyvia Batchman was another key player, putting up ten points along with five boards and five steals.

Kinsley is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14. As for Ellinwood, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Kinsley has already played their next match, a 42-30 loss against LaCrosse on the 17th. Ellinwood has also already played their next game (against Russell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
