Basketball Recap: Pendleton Bulldogs vs. Union County Yellowjackets
Pendleton and Union County squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Pendleton had to settle for second. They took a 53-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union County Yellowjackets. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly six points.
Defeat or not, Pendleton got some senior leadership from Malachi Woodruff and Garon Blalock. Woodruff went 6-for-15 on his way to 19 points, while Blalock dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Woodruff continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Even though they lost, Pendleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Eric Gray was his usual excellent self, going 8-for-15 to rack up 29 points and seven rebounds for Union County. That's the most boards Gray has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Akeem Shaw, who earned seven points and six rebounds.
Pendleton's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Union County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-12.
Pendleton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Union County, they will face off against Christ Church Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.
