Softball Game Preview: Hilliard Red Flashes vs. Yulee Hornets

Hilliard is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Yulee a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Hilliard Red Flashes will be playing at home against the Yulee Hornets at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Hilliard blew Bishop Snyder out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Bishop Snyder got their revenge. Hilliard fell just short of Bishop Snyder by a score of 5-3.

Kierstin Northern was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Peighton Self was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Yulee didn't have quite enough to beat Paxon School For Advanced Studies on Tuesday and fell 5-4.

Yulee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jade Fisher, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Yulee's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-5-1. As for Hilliard, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Hilliard couldn't quite finish off Yulee when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Hilliard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
