Baseball Recap: Deckerville Comes Up Short

Deckerville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Capac Chiefs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chiefs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 on Monday.

Deckerville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Flanagan, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That hit was Flanagan's first of the season.

Deckerville's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Capac, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deckerville will welcome Brown City at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Green Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.5 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Capac, they will square off against Sandusky at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chiefs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
