Football Recap: Geneva Knights vs. Lake Mary Prep Griffins
After flying high against City of Life Christian Academy last Friday, Geneva came back down to earth. The Geneva Knights and the Lake Mary Prep Griffins were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Geneva Knights suffered a 43-42 defeat. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (36), the Knights still had to take the loss.
Lake Mary Prep had a senior duo take command as Evan Alles picked up 67 receiving yards and three touchdowns and Payne Fitzmaurice picked up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown. Fitzmaurice got the majority of those yards when he pulled down a pass and and took off for a gain of55 yards.
Having lost for the first time this season, Geneva fell to 2-1. As for Lake Mary Prep, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
Geneva will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Liberty Christian Prep at 7:00 p.m. on September 13th. As for Lake Mary Prep, they will host Master's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lake Mary Prep focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday.
