Basketball Recap: Academic Magnet Comes Up Short

Academic Magnet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 78-44 loss at the hands of the Philip Simmons Iron Horses. While losing is never fun, the Raptors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Iron Horses are ranked 85th).

Philip Simmons' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hopper Afman, who posted 11 points and three steals. Afman is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Dylan Morris, who put up 13 points.

Academic Magnet's loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Philip Simmons, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5.

Academic Magnet has already played their next contest (against Woodland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Philip Simmons will face off against Timberland at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
