Volleyball Recap: Grants Takes a Loss

Grants lost against Valencia on October 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pirates came up short against the Jaguars, falling 3-0. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Grants took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-12, 25-13.

Kiana Guzman paced Grants' offense, picking up three kills. Guzman got some help from Sienna Montoya and her five assists.

Valencia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooke Romero led the charge by getting five digs and two aces. Romero is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Angie Morales, who had five aces.

Grants' defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Valencia, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-5.

Coincidentally, Grants and Valencia will both be playing St. Pius X the next time they take the court. The Pirates will host the Sartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Jaguars will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
