Baseball Recap: Rowan County Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Rowan County came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Russell Red Devils by a score of 10-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 back in March.

Mason Havens was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Will Richardson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Rowan County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Aaron Pennington was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Rowan County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Rowan County's win bumped their record up to 22-11. As for Russell, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-12.

Coming up, Rowan County will be playing in front of their home fans against Menifee County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Russell, they will square off against Greenup County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
