Basketball Recap: Avon Starts off Right with Win over Atlantis

Avon took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They blew past Atlantis 86-41. With the Panthers ahead 43-16 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Thomas Edwards was a one-man wrecking crew as he went 8-for-13 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points along with six assists and five rebounds. He has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more points the last 19 times he's played. Douglas Ateku was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon will take on South Shore Vo-Tech in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Atlantis, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Rising Tide at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
