Basketball Recap: Dublin Takes a Loss

Dublin fought the good fight in their overtime game against West Laurens on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 73-68 to the Raiders. The Fighting Irish have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Dublin lost, don't look at Glen Harris. Despite the final result, he shot 47% from the field on his way to 22 points. Harris also put up a steal, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaydon McRae, who posted 15 points.

West Laurens' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shannon Adkins, who scored 15 points along with seven boards and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Adkins now owns an excellent 45.5% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Stephens, who put up 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Dublin's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for West Laurens, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Dublin will be home for the holidays to greet Academy for Classical Education at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish's defense better be ready for this one: the Gryphons have averaged an impressive 56.8 points per game this season. As for West Laurens, they are taking a road trip to face off against Hephzibah at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Rebels have now posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
