Volleyball Game Preview: Liberty Lions vs. Desert Vista Thunder

The Liberty Lions will take on the Desert Vista Thunder at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will be strutting in after a victory while Desert Vista will be coming in after a defeat.

Liberty will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Sunrise Mountain, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. Liberty was the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Sunrise Mountain last Wednesday. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Lions yet this season.

The win didn't come easy: Sunrise Mountain scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Desert Vista unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Chandler, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Thunder have suffered since March 4th.

While Desert Vista had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-23, 25-22.

Liberty's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-6. As for Desert Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Liberty skirted past Desert Vista 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Liberty repeat their success, or does Desert Vista has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
