Volleyball Preview: Alexander Bulldogs vs. Del Rio Rams

Alexander is a perfect 10-0 against Del Rio since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will take on the Rams at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alexander has 15 straight victories, Del Rio has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

If United South wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Alexander, they should've done a better job of containing Brianna Espinoza. The Bulldogs blew past the Panthers 3-0 on Saturday for which the team can thank Espinoza, who had 22 digs and four aces. She has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last eight times she's played.

Alexander walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-13.

Meanwhile, Del Rio came up short against Laredo LBJ on Saturday and fell 3-1.

Del Rio started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-19.

Del Rio's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Alexander, their victory bumped their record up to 24-4.

Alexander took their win against Del Rio in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
