Soccer Game Preview: Oberlin vs. Firelands

Oberlin hasn't had much luck against Firelands recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Phoenix will host the Falcons at 1:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Saturday, Oberlin made easy work of Open Door Christian and carried off a 6-1 victory. With Oberlin ahead 4-1 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Their offense was hitting Open Door Christian from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Kylie Walter led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Firelands entered their tilt with Brookside on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their defense stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 4-0 shutout. Given Firelands' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Brookside are ranked 475th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Firelands' win bumped their record up to 10-4-1. As for Oberlin, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5-2.
