Football Preview: Arlington Red Devils vs. Gibsonburg Golden Bears

On Friday Arlington will have to hit the road after three straight games at home. They will square off against the Gibsonburg Golden Bears at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Thursday, Arlington blew past Arcadia, posting a 41-7 win.

Meanwhile, Gibsonburg had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-0 victory over the Fighting Hornets. The Golden Bears' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Gibsonburg found their leader in sophomore Grant Smith, who rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Smith really tore up the turf during one magnificent 86-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Walby, who rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown.

Gibsonburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 307 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 216 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

Gibsonburg wouldn't let Cory-Rawson keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Gibsonburg can thank Jett Linton and Smith for forcing both of them. Smith's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards.

Arlington's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-5. As for Gibsonburg, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
