Schurr came out on top against Mark Keppel on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Aztecs. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Liam Lu, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Schurr: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 4-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Trevino, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Schurr kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Schurr's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Mark Keppel, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
