Recap: Laurel Spartans vs. Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders
The Laurel Spartans had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 70-58 victory over Eleanor Roosevelt on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Laurel's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jermaine Taylor, who scored 26 points. The matchup was Taylor's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gilbert Osafo, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds.
The win got Laurel back to even at 4-4. As for Eleanor Roosevelt, they bumped their record down to 1-10-1 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laurel will square off against Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eleanor Roosevelt, they will head out on the road to face off against Parkdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
