Baseball Recap: Brockway Takes a Loss

Brockway had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-8 to make it six. They fell just short of the Johnsonburg Rams by a score of 15-14. The Rovers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 14-4.

Braxton Mckinley was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ben Bash, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Johnsonburg's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Johnsonburg's side, Aiden Demay was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Newman, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Brockway will be playing in front of their home fans against Redbank Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Johnsonburg, they are taking a road trip to take on Clarion-Limestone at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.9 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
