Basketball Game Preview: Exeter Monarchs vs. Central Valley Christian Cavaliers

Exeter is 1-9 against Central Valley Christian since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Exeter Monarchs will venture away from home to square off against the Central Valley Christian Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. Exeter is coming into the game hot, having won their last 11 games.

Last Friday, Exeter was able to grind out a solid victory over Kerman, taking the game 83-72. Given the Monarchs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 410th, while the Lions are ranked 853rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aden Plyman and Blaine Mcfall were among the main playmakers for Exeter as the former went 13 of 24 on his way to 34 points and eight rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Mcfall continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadon Hughes, who posted three points in addition to ten assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Central Valley Christian came up short against Selma on Friday and fell 68-57. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Central Valley Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Exeter, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1.

Exeter came up short against Central Valley Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 70-58. Can Exeter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
