Baseball Recap: Millard West Takes a Loss

Millard West fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Lincoln North Star on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Navigators by a score of 3-2. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dylan Swiercek was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Millard West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colton Williams, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Williams is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Jack Meeks also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Millard West now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Lincoln North Star, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Millard West has already played their next game, a 17-4 loss against Millard South on the 8th. As for Lincoln North Star, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-7 victory against Lincoln Southwest on the 8th.
