Basketball Recap: Blazer Skates Past Russell with Ease

Blazer won the last time they faced Russell and things went their way on Monday too. The Blazer Tomcats breezed past the Russell Red Devils to the tune of 70-41. The Tomcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Russell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kenley Kouns posted ten points. Kouns is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games she's played. Abby Sharp was another key player, putting up eight points.

Blazer has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.9 points over those games. As for Russell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 19-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blazer will challenge Boyd County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Russell, they will be playing at home against Lawrence County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
