Softball Game Preview: New Smyrna Beach Barracudas vs. Seabreeze Sandcrabs

The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas will challenge the Seabreeze Sandcrabs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Smyrna Beach has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 18.

New Smyrna Beach lost 11-1 to Flagler Palm Coast on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Barracudas have lost by exactly ten runs.

Valerie Hausknedht made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seabreeze). Everything went their way against Crescent City on Monday as they made off with a 29-14 win. The Sandcrabs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Kyra McLin was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Caylee Little was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Seabreeze was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Seabreeze is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.9 runs over those games. As for New Smyrna Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

New Smyrna Beach came out on top in a nail-biter against Seabreeze in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 11-9. Will the Barracudas repeat their success, or do the Sandcrabs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
