Soccer Game Preview: Hoover vs. Oak Mountain

Hoover hasn't had much luck against Oak Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Buccaneers will challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Hoover sitting on six straight wins and Oak Mountain on 24.

Hoover is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Hewitt-Trussville, who was ranked 15th at the time (Hoover was ranked second). The Buccaneers blew past the Huskies 5-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Hoover, who have now won 11 contests by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Hewitt-Trussville with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Patrick Anderson (3), Henry Patterson, and Reeves Knox.

Homewood typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Oak Mountain proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Patriots 2-1. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Oak Mountain were the better team in the second half.

Hoover's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four games. As for Oak Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 24-0.

Hoover might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from Oak Mountain when the teams last played back in March. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Buccaneers were down 4-0.
