Baseball Game Preview: Evergreen Valley Cougars vs. Westmont Warriors

The Evergreen Valley Cougars will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Westmont Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Evergreen Valley is headed out to face Westmont after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Mt. Pleasant 3-2. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Evergreen Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Cacciaroni, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Westmont had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cupertino on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 19, 2025.

Noah Kandah looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.

Evergreen Valley got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2022 against Westmont by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
