Football Recap: Denton Turns Things Around After Road Loss + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Denton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Azle Hornets by a score of 35-23 on Friday. This was payback for the Broncos, who suffered a 52-14 loss the last time these two teams met.

It was another big night for Terrance Lopez, who threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 47 yards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (152.1). Rodney Rayson was another key player, rushing for 82 yards and a pair of scores.

Denton's defense stepped up as well, laying out Derrek Vowell. three times. Leading the way was Abhi Bhandari with two sacks. Bhandari is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. Devonte Powell was another major factor on D, making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.

Despite the loss, Azle still got an impressive performance from Aiden Mackey, who picked up 100 receiving yards and one TD.

The victory got Denton back to even at 2-2. As for Azle, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Denton and Azle will both be playing Brewer the next time they take the field. The Hornets will host the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Broncos will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
