Preview: Southeast Lauderdale Tigers vs. Leake Academy Rebels
The Southeast Lauderdale Tigers will take on the Leake Academy Rebels at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Southeast Lauderdale is hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Southeast Lauderdale was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to Kemper County.
Meanwhile, Leake Academy put the finishing touches on their 19th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Lamar on the road to the tune of 61-24. Given Leake Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Lamar is ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leake Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ella Bell, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Katye Jones, who scored 16 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Allen, who scored five points along with four steals.
Southeast Lauderdale has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Leake Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 23-4.
