Volleyball Recap: Wekiva Falls Despite Big Games from Sarai Mcfadden and Mikayla Rivera

After flying high against Colonial last Tuesday, Wekiva came back down to earth. The Mustangs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Edgewater Eagles on Tuesday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Wekiva started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-14, 25-15, 25-19.

Wekiva's loss came despite strong showings from Mikayla Rivera and Sarai McFadden. Rivera had 18 digs and three aces, while McFadden had 11 digs and six kills.

Wekiva's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Edgewater, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Coming up, Wekiva will take on Lyman at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Edgewater, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Space Coast on the 3rd.
