Football Recap: Fort Stockton Wins Going Away Against Monahans

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Greenwood, Fort Stockton was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They strolled past the Monahans Loboes with points to spare, taking the game 36-20. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their seven-point performance the matchup before.

It was another big night for Gerry Diaz, who rushed for 114 yards and one score on only 14 carries, and also threw for 160 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 passes. Those 114 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Nick Almendarez also helped out as he racked up 123 rushing yards.

Fort Stockton's record is now 6-4. As for Monahans, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

Fort Stockton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monahans, they will welcome Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Loboes' defense better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 38.4 points per game this season.
