Baseball Game Preview: Carter Lions vs. Jurupa Hills Spartans

For the second straight game, Carter will face off against Jurupa Hills. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Carter has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Carter lost 11-1 to Jurupa Hills on Wednesday.

For Jurupa Hills' part, Alejandro Preciado made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Preciado has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Jose Plazola and Aaden Lopez did most of the damage at the plate: Plazola went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Lopez went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Plazola a new career-high. Alfredo Hernandez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Jurupa Hills pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Carter, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
