Falcon and The Classical Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Falcon Falcons will welcome The Classical Academy Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Falcon is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Falcon's tournament run continued when they took on Durango on Saturday. Falcon fell to Durango 37-33.
The losing side was boosted by Macey Fothergill, who posted seven points and five steals. Cierra Barbary was another key player, putting up two points along with six steals and five boards.
Meanwhile, after only 25 points in their last contest, The Classical Academy made sure to put some points up on the board against Elizabeth on Friday. The Classical Academy blew past Elizabeth 60-16. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-9.
Falcon better focus on containing Kelsey Peterson and Emma Megahan as the pair were huge in The Classical Academy's win. Peterson shot 4-for-5 from long range and dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 steals, while Megahan went 7 of 12 on her way to 18 points. Peterson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerrica Thompson, who posted three points and six assists.
The Classical Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-6. As for Falcon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Falcon has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 34.5 boards per game. However, it's not like The Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Falcon and The Classical Academy were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but Falcon came up empty-handed after a 42-41 defeat. Can Falcon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
