Baseball Recap: Forbush Comes Up Short

Forbush blew South Stokes out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday South Stokes got their revenge. The Falcons fell just short of the Sauras by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Falcons have suffered since April 4, 2025.

Bo Moxley was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Moxley was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Giovanni Casertano and Hunter Wolfe did some serious damage despite the final result: Casertano went 3-for-5 with one run and one double, while Wolfe earned one RBI, one run, and three stolen bases. Will Tomlin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Forbush has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for South Stokes, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-5.

Looking ahead, Forbush will be playing at home against East Surry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Stokes, they will challenge Fort Chiswell at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pioneers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Sauras' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
