Baseball Recap: Marianna Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Marianna, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Chipley Tigers on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Riley Adkinson tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since March 3rd.

At the plate, Marianna got a massive performance out of Jackson Roberts, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Roberts is becoming a predictor of Marianna's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Torin Clark-Hussey, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Marianna's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Chipley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Marianna will head out on the road to face off against Wakulla at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Marianna's pitchers better be ready for this one: Wakulla has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Chipley, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Chipley Tigers face off against Brookstone Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
