Baseball Recap: Northview Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clay City, Northview was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Crawfordsville Athenians 4-2. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 4-0 victory the Athenians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in June of 2024.

Jackson Pierce was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Dominic Barnhart was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Derek Morrison was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Northview's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Crawfordsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northview will welcome Martinsville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crawfordsville, they will be playing at home against Fountain Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Athenians are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
