Basketball Game Preview: Sequoyah Chiefs vs. Seymour Eagles

The Sequoyah Chiefs just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Seymour Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Sequoyah and five for Seymour.

On Monday, Sequoyah was beaten by Rhea County 71-27. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 153rd).

Meanwhile, Seymour was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 65-60 to Northview Academy.

Seymour's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Sequoyah, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

Sequoyah couldn't quite finish off Seymour when the teams last played back in November of 2024 and fell 52-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Seymour's Talon Pederson, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds.
