Softball Game Preview: Cocoa Beach Minutemen vs. Cocoa Tigers

The Cocoa Beach Minutemen will challenge the Cocoa Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cocoa Beach is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Cocoa Beach made easy work of Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy and carried off a 9-3 victory. The Minutemen haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Zoe Vella spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Isabella Deese was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kaelin Goslin, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Cocoa played against Heritage on Tuesday and lost via forfeit.

Cocoa Beach's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Cocoa, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Cocoa Beach was able to grind out a solid win over Cocoa in their previous meeting back in March, winning 12-7. Will the Minutemen repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
