Softball Recap: Pittsville Drops Season-High Score on Tri-County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pittsville). They were the clear victors by a 21-10 margin over the Tri-County Penguins on Monday. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Lana Vollert was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Ally Klaske also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pittsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Pittsville's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11. As for Tri-County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Pittsville will head out to challenge Necedah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.07 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tri-County, they will welcome Tigerton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
