Basketball Recap: Walkersville Comes Up Short

Walkersville managed to keep up with Williamsport until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Walkersville Lions came up short against the Williamsport Wildcats, falling 59-35. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-36 back in January.

Leading Williamsport to victory were Zay Oree and Jahmeir Byrd. Oree went 7-for-12 to rack up 16 points and six assists, while Byrd almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. The match was Byrd's sixth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Markell Campbell, who posted eight points and five boards.

Walkersville now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Williamsport, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Looking ahead, Walkersville will head out on the road to face off against Urbana at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Urbana will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Walkersville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Williamsport, they will welcome South Hagerstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
