Recap: Hopkins Royals vs. Eden Prairie Eagles

The Hopkins Royals entered their tilt with the Eden Prairie Eagles with 12 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 13. Hopkins secured a 83-79 W over Eden Prairie on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

When it comes to explaining why Eden Prairie lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tori Schlagel. Despite the final result, she scored 27 points. Schlagel has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times she's played. Vanessa Jordan was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.

Hopkins' victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2. As for Eden Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

Hopkins is on the road again on Friday and plays Edina at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopkins knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matchups -- so hopefully Edina likes a good challenge. As for Eden Prairie, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Wayzata at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Minnesota (Wayzata is ranked fourth, while Eden Prairie is ranked sixth).
