Baseball Recap: Hudson Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hudson can now relate to. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newburyport Clippers on Friday. The Hawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Clippers from their previous meeting back in June of 2022.

Caelen O'Brien was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jackson Wood, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Hudson's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Newburyport, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7.

Hudson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newburyport, they will square off against Shawsheen Valley Tech on Monday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 0.9 runs per game this season, so the Clippers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
