Baseball Recap: Stanton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Stanton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against the Parker Braves by a score of 8-5 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won four in a row.

Jose Figueroa was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Stanton let Gio Cruz and Brooks Jarrett run wild. Cruz scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Jarrett scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Stanton is 6-1 when Jarrett posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Dan Exline also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Stanton's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Parker, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-11.

Looking ahead, Stanton will venture away from home to take on Menendez at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Parker, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harvest Community at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.06 runs per game on average), something the Braves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
