Baseball Recap: Linden Sets Scoring Season-High Against Dickinson

Linden had lost five games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 3-12 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Dickinson Rams 17-11. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Jimmy Santa Maria, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Obed Rosario was another key player, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Linden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

As for Dickinson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games.

On Dickinson's side, Ricardo Hernandez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Hernandez continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Stephen Duran also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Linden will face off against Dayton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dickinson, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against University Academy Charter at 4:30 p.m. The Rams are facing the Generals at the right time seeing as the Generals are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
