Basketball Recap: Mesa Piles Up the Points Against Tucson High Magnet School

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Mesa on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers out of the water with an 81-43 final score. The Jackrabbits have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 30 points or more this season.

Mesa found their leader in sophomore Jakyi Miles, who went 12-for-18 en route to 28 points along with seven boards and five assists. Miles also set a new season-high mark in field goal percentage with 67%. Another player making a difference was Daijon Grayson, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 14 points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds.

Tucson High Magnet School's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Patrick Flores, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points. Sebastian Albertsen also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Mesa and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Mesa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 71-46 loss against Sunnyslope on the 5th. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they have also already played their next contest, an 80-59 win against Catalina Foothills on the 5th.
