With a playoff win on the line, Desert Mountain rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 21-7 victory over the Canyon View Jaguars. The win was familiar territory for the Wolves, who have now won five contests in a row.

Desert Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grant Garduno led the charge by throwing for 169 yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, Garduno racked up 116 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October. Desert Mountain also got a significant boost from Easton Conner, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Desert Mountain proved: they limited Canyon View to a paltry 0.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Kaika Solomon for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Desert Mountain; they were averaging 5.1yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 3.4 per game.

Desert Mountain's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up nine sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Ryan McDonough and Davian Whitener, who racked up five sacks between them. McDonough is also on a roll when it comes to forced fumbles, as he's now earned at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Desert Mountain received some extra help from Whitener, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Desert Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Canyon View, they moved to 11-3 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.
