Baseball Recap: Newport Harbor Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Newport Harbor ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Marina Vikings. The win was nothing new for the Sailors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Newport Harbor's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Gahm, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Newport Harbor pushed their record up to 20-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Marina, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season.

Newport Harbor will have a chance to go back-to-back against Marina: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
