St. Mary has gone 9-1 against Tracy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. St. Mary's will welcome Tracy at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Mary's comes in on five and Tracy on six.
St. Mary's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Central Catholic as St. Mary's made off with a 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Giani Camacho looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Dax Hardcastle was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Moses Alexander was another key player, getting no hits.
Meanwhile, Tracy was able to grind out a solid win over Kimball on Friday, taking the game 3-0.
Not much got past Jace Johnson, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Kimball off the board. That's the fewest hits Johnson has allowed since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacoby Freitas, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
Tracy pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for St. Mary's, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Mary's has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tracy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Mary's took their win against Tracy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2. Will St. Mary's repeat their success, or does Tracy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
