Basketball Game Preview: Oak Grove Grizzlies vs. Central Davidson Spartans

Oak Grove is 9-1 against Central Davidson since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Oak Grove Grizzlies will face off against the Central Davidson Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Oak Grove is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.

Oak Grove is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Montgomery Central: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Oak Grove blew Montgomery Central out of the water with a 68-25 final score. The Grizzlies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

Emma Hadley was nothing short of spectacular: she dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kalin Favreau, who went 6 of 11 to rack up 12 points and six steals.

Meanwhile, Central Davidson hadn't done well against North Davidson recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Central Davidson breezed past North Davidson to the tune of 54-25. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Spartans had established a 24 point advantage.

Central Davidson's win came from a few key players Oak Grove will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Raegan McCarn, who went 7 for 16 en route to 27 points. Those 27 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bethany Myers, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Central Davidson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Oak Grove, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7.

Oak Grove strolled past Central Davidson in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 52-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oak Grove since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
