Basketball Recap: Barnwell Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bridges Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Barnwell). They really took it to the Bridges Prep Buccaneers for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-25 victory. This was a revenge game for the Warhorses: when they faced off against the Buccaneers two weeks ago, they had to take a 50-46 loss.

Barnwell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabrielle Thomas led the charge by putting up 14 points along with six boards and four steals. Thomas has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Savannah Rountree was another key player, scoring 15 points.

Barnwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addie Taylor, who posted eight points in addition to 13 rebounds and three blocks.

Barnwell's record now sits at 4-12. As for Bridges Prep, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.

Coming up, Barnwell will take on Andrew Jackson at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Andrew Jackson's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 18 contests. Bridges Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
