Basketball Game Preview: Goose Creek Gators vs. Lugoff-Elgin Demons

Lugoff-Elgin is facing Goose Creek at the wrong time: Goose Creek suffered their first home loss of the season on Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cobras.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lugoff-Elgin walked away with it. They took down the Bengals 58-41 on Tuesday.

Lugoff-Elgin's win came from a few key players Goose Creek will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Braylen Mumford, who went 6-for-8 on his way to 14 points. What's more, he also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Kaleb Long was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Goose Creek's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 22-3. As for Lugoff-Elgin, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-11.
