Preview: Carolina Day Wildcats vs. Statesville Christian Lions
The Carolina Day Wildcats will be playing at home against the Statesville Christian Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Statesville Christian took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Carolina Day, who comes in off a win.
Carolina Day came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 46-27 win over Varsity Opponent on Monday. Carolina Day pushed the score to 40-15 by the end of the third, a deficit Varsity Opponent cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Lily Everette, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Carolina Day's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Williams, who scored seven points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Statesville Christian had to settle for a 30-27 defeat against North Hills Christian on Thursday. Statesville Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Carolina Day's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8. As for Statesville Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Carolina Day didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Statesville Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 53-49 victory. Will Carolina Day repeat their success, or does Statesville Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
